Resident letter

Hi!
My name is Kiria and I have been living at Grove Walk Norwich for 13 years. As a resident I was so disappointed at how the college went about making us aware of this new development and giving the neighbours so little time to ask questions and not being so truthful with their answers. I do believe that college needs to move with the times and making a better environment for students, but at who’s cost? I am sure that developing or re-furbishing the existing building will be a better option financially as well as saving what seems to be regarded as an iconic building. The planning department needs to consider how the college will bring a negative effect on the surrounding neighbours.

I feel that this new development and having the car park so near to my fence it will change the whole character of my area for the worst. Listening to neighbours on Ipswich grove saying that the existing car park is nuisance as students hang around being noisy and littering and have complained to the college I feel that college is just relocating the problem and the only way solve this problem and make this college greener it should be a car free zone. What really confuses me is what they are planning for the future and is it viable? Also is the college cramming too much in? All I can say is they seem to like wasting money considering that many of the buildings are not very old and I believe they have only just launched a regional centre for learners with autistic spectrum disorders, how much did this cost and how long will it last?

My biggest concern is the end product having this over whelming five floor building closer to my home will make such an impact swamping our skies and taking away a lot of our afternoon light and worst of all being over looked.
All in all there is a lot of support for the college project. But I still feel they need to re-think their plans. We need some support.

Many neighbours who have concerns are made to feel guilty because they seem anti college. We are worried about are homes and how the development will effect them.
